If Time Could Stand Still
The four of us in beautiful Dana Point
TIME FLIES!
Another year has passed or should we say...FLOWN by. Mike and I feel that time moves faster the older we get. Time has become our most precious asset.
We can remember Sierra getting her first baby tooth and now she has lost her first baby tooth. We can remember holding a baby Simone in our arms and now her growing arms and legs dangle about as we strain our backs to carry her.
5 years ago marked the first Christmas that I spent without my mother and yet, today, I can still smell her, hear her, and see her...
I can remember having slumber parties with my sister as we awaited Santa's arrival and now our own children slumber together.
With that, Mike, Sierra, Simone, and I present our unified family wish for ....
A TIME MACHINE!
Jen: I want a time machine to move me safely through the Am-Bush to the Obama-nation (I think). I am a true believer in "living in the present"...however, the present doesn't seem to want to stay still long enough to be embraced. So, I would like to use the time machine to help me stay in the present moment so that I can savor it all the more.
Mike: Well, he turns forty in 2009...need we say more about the reasons he might want a time machine (ha). But really, he loves his LITTLE girls and watches them grow with great anticipation and with a deep breathe of hope.
Sierra: Well, at five, time is of the essence. Everything is happening and all at the same time. She is in a constant state of amazement. She loves being 5 but might use the time machine to zoom her to age seventeen...this is when she will get her ears pierced. (She came up with the age all on her own...we'll see about that.)
Simone: Simone may be the only person in our family who has mastered the art of living in the present. She lives in it so much that she "IS" the present. She knows not nor cares not what lies ahead except for what is for dessert and when she will play with her best friends and cousins next. She would like a time machine just to let everyone be 3 1/2 again; to remember that life really is simple and amazing.
This year we wish for a time machine to have more time to appreciate the present. Is this asking for too much?
So, we only hope that you find YOUR "present"...and a time machine so you can savor it.
