Mike and his friend Glen as they celebrate the 20th year anniversary of winning the basketball CIF championship. They are still recorded as the greatest basketball team Simi ever saw.
Before our most wonderful tour of Santa Barbara wine country and wines of course....hey...seven women drinking wine, reminiscing, and with a limo driver...just a little bit of fun :) Thanks Sasha!
Now girls...you've done a nice job...our next steps are to dip them in as many colors as possible and see how clean the table cloth is...no...no...no...we must make sure not to leave one white spot. Okay, you have your eye-gear on...we're set.
Grandpa and his girls swimming (yes, swimming) and flying and splashing in Lake Elsinore. The girls just love spending time with Grandpa...they have proclaimed Grandpa days as some of their best.
Nana and the girls on their first REAL (outside of the backyard)...camping trip at El Capitan. We highly recommend spot 85...amazing view...and bringing Nana...she knows all the tricks.
Mike and I at our friend Charles' wedding reception. The reception was beautiful but Charles through us for a loop with the Country Club attire...thank goodness for the internet. We learned something new.
Sierra playing soccer...I asked her on her first day if she was going to run and kick the ball and she said..."YES, but if the other team wants it then I will give it to them". She was taking the non-comp thing a bit too seriously. Thankfully, Mike was out there as ref to guide her along :)
Who is scarier...the mummy or us? Those of you who are afraid of clowns...be afraid. We had fun though and felt appropriately silly. Thanks Gary for a wonderful Halloween year after year!
This year, our garage served as a general election polling place. Here is Sierra handing out "I voted" stickers at the biggest election of her life thus far.
The look on their faces tells it all...Gavin and Simone are a force to be reckoned with when paired together. So cute and so mischievious all at the same time.
Oh yeah! Sierra lost her tooth on Black Friday at Mervyns in Henderson. Won't forget it. She handed Mom her tooth, started crying. Gavin asked her if she was sad and she said, "No, I am crying because I'm happy". Priceless!
Just me...finishing my math credential finally and as a two for one, I will finish my master's in cross cultural curriculum in January. I can't decide which I love more...being the student or the teacher.
TIME FLIES! Another year has passed or should we say...FLOWN by. Mike and I feel that time moves faster the older we get. Time has become our most precious asset.
We can remember Sierra getting her first baby tooth and now she has lost her first baby tooth. We can remember holding a baby Simone in our arms and now her growing arms and legs dangle about as we strain our backs to carry her.
5 years ago marked the first Christmas that I spent without my mother and yet, today, I can still smell her, hear her, and see her...
I can remember having slumber parties with my sister as we awaited Santa's arrival and now our own children slumber together.
With that, Mike, Sierra, Simone, and I present our unified family wish for ....
ATIME MACHINE! Jen: I want a time machine to move me safely through the Am-Bush to the Obama-nation (I think). I am a true believer in "living in the present"...however, the present doesn't seem to want to stay still long enough to be embraced. So, I would like to use the time machine to help me stay in the present moment so that I can savor it all the more.
Mike: Well, he turns forty in 2009...need we say more about the reasons he might want a time machine (ha). But really, he loves his LITTLE girls and watches them grow with great anticipation and with a deep breathe of hope.
Sierra: Well, at five, time is of the essence. Everything is happening and all at the same time. She is in a constant state of amazement. She loves being 5 but might use the time machine to zoom her to age seventeen...this is when she will get her ears pierced. (She came up with the age all on her own...we'll see about that.)
Simone: Simone may be the only person in our family who has mastered the art of living in the present. She lives in it so much that she "IS" the present. She knows not nor cares not what lies ahead except for what is for dessert and when she will play with her best friends and cousins next. She would like a time machine just to let everyone be 3 1/2 again; to remember that life really is simple and amazing.
This year we wish for a time machine to have more time to appreciate the present. Is this asking for too much?
So, we only hope that you find YOUR "present"...and a time machine so you can savor it.
Love to all and warmest Christmas wishes, Jen, Mike, Sierra, and Simone
